What are solar panels?

Solar panels, also known as photovoltaic (PV) panels, turn sunlight into electricity you can use in your home. They’re usually fitted to your roof and work best in daylight—yes, even when it’s cloudy.

The electricity they generate can power your lights, appliances, and more. Any extra power you don’t use can be stored or exported back to the grid.

That means you rely less on expensive energy from the grid—and save money every day.
